First I think it was a mistake to do a clean installation instead of upgrading from the previous OS Windows 7 cause now I don’t have any trace of previous drivers and programs which may still work on Windows 10 and from what I can tell it’s kinda been ages since Sony Vaio last supported my laptop, the last drivers available are for Windows 8.

Notably I have three issues: 1. Some function keys don’t work especially the brightness adjuster , 2. The touchpad is really crappy but I can’t find any option to disable it I use external mouse.

The keyboard backlit setting is missing used to be within Vaio Control Center. I think some of my problems can somewhat be fixed if I can install Vaio Control Center, which was like the app for all the settings on a Vaio laptop, but I’ve tried all possible drivers that Sony has on their website but none of them work.

Some actually do but they are missing the keyboard settings option. I also have tried using compatability mode for the older drivers but they also don’t work. This thread is locked.

I am a seasoned Windows expert with almost a decade in usage and support experience and hope to resolve your problems quickly. This is a driver side problem. Those functions are supported when the manufacturer of the product delivers the right driver. Even if you would have upgraded from Windows 7 those drivers would have very likely been lost in the process.

So one can hope that they deliver on a Windows 10 version of the control center. In the meantime you can try to contact them on a workaround to get the Windows 8 driver to work in Windows If this solved your problem i am very happy if you would provide feedback and mark this as solved.

None of the options gave me the Vaio Control Center that I need. I still can’t use function keys properly and also the touchpad is still crappy and I can’t automatically disable it yes I can disable it everytime I plug a mouse by going to the device manager but that’s not what I am looking for here.

At some cases some of the drivers even resulted in my laptop saying that the battery is not properly attached or something and that I have to unplug the battery so I uninstall some of those drivers.

Sony Vaio control center not installing

 

Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit. I was facing the same problem. After upgrading, i was unable to change the settings as the software was missing and when i tried to install the software after downloading from official website, it said that newer version was already installed.

One day when my laptop discharged completely while USB charging. When I switched on my laptop next day, the default settings were applied somehow. It worked fine for me. Try, if it works for you too. And let me know if any solution comes.
