Directly under the Office logo, does it say “Subscription Product” then under that, “Microsoft Office “? If so, you have a subscription version that will get new features like Morph and Zoom. Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. So I guess Microsoft is punishing PowerPoint pros who work with clients who haven’t made the leap to Office ? I swear to God I completely understand your frustration, but the “half full” version of the same problem is this:.
The subscription version has brought something entirely new to the Office table: it allows MS to provide regular updates including some that bring new features. In the last year, MS has released probably a dozen new features, things that in previous versions wouldn’t have been released until the next major version update a couple of years later. They’ve also released the occasional new bugs along the way these get corrected VERY fast, but they still chew on our ankles while we wait for the next monthly update.
Organizations that stick with the non-subscription version of Office do so, among other reasons, because they want a stable version rather than one that changes with every set of updates that MS pushes out, and are willing to forego the newly added features in order to get that. It’s up to us as professionals to know our tools, including an awareness of which features work on other office versions and which don’t. My own approach would be to use the new subscription-only features when I have an iron-clad promise from the client that they’ll be using the subscription version to run the presentation, and have made them aware that if they use other versions, things won’t work quite as expected.
This zoom feature has been around for almost 2 years. This is a poor strategy for Microsoft. I have a subscription for home, but not at the office.
